Home Studio v0.5

First post since 2018!

This long hiatus has been unplanned since the last blog post. This is the result of raising a young child, combined with busier-than-ever work, topped off with COVID-19. It was challenging to say the least, the toughest part being having to work on tough projects from home while assisting remote preschooler classes in parallel. Nevertheless… we made it through in one piece.

There’s one good news though. A few months before the pandemic hit and Victoria went into lockdowns, we moved to a new place which provided more space for Little Godzilla to run around and this house has an extra room that him and I have been sharing as a work and study space.

That’s right. Home studio v0.5 is the north-west corner of that extra room:

Featuring: the long desk, the wide screen, the mechanical keyboard, and the mini bookshelf pictured above. They have all been a major upgrade compared to v0.3 :).

Does this post mean I’m back on the blogging train? Crossing my fingers but not holding my breath. Other parents told me that one would start getting a bit of ‘spare time’ back when the child reaches about seven years old, and thus far that translates to me having to wake up 1-2 hours earlier than my son during the weekends (and it doesn’t always work).

I’m planning to go through some pictures from the past five years and post the kludging around that I somehow managed to squeeze in during those busy years, the remote conference talks that I delivered, and some nerd-fun activities that I spent with the Little Godzilla.
